The process of industrialization in its modern phase initiated in Aguascalientes at the beginning of the eighties, from the establishment of the first businesses with foreign investment, specifically in the automobile industry with Japanese capital and in the electronic industry with U.S. investment.

This fact marked without doubt the economical life of the state, since it left behind the traditional activities that in their moment were of great significance, like the agriculture, wine industry and the railroads, among others.

Thus, from 1982 to the present time, the total of Direct Foreign Investment (DFI) accumulated in Aguascalientes, elevates to 4,267 million dollars, what has permitted to offer employment to little more than 32,800 people of the state, what signifies that Aguascalientes concentrates the 3.5% of the total of the direct foreign investment in Mexico.

This foreign investment is very significant, because Aguascalientes only represents the 0.3% of the national territory and the 1% of the total of the population, for that reason the state is considered as one of the most successful places to carry out investments in the world.

Another prominent aspect to consider, is that the foreign capital businesses that have been installed in the State, are characterized for including a technological development of vanguard, dedicated to activities that generate a high aggregate value and therefore that they are considered strategic for the economic development of the state.

For that reason the foreign investment exercised in the state, is concentrated mainly in the Manufacturing Industry, followed by the activities as the Commerce and the Services.

With it, it has remained the manifesto, the confidence of the investor businessmen of countries as Japan, France, United States, Spain, Swiss and Chinese (Hong Kong) by Aguascalientes, such is the case of businesses like Nissan/Renault, Jatco Mexico, Flextronics, Texas Instruments, Mexicans Breaks (Bosch), Calsonic Kansei, Sanoh, INSA, Yorozu Mexican, Nicomental, Unipres of Mexico, System of Harnesses K&S, Fomasa (TRW), San-S Mexican, Gestamp, Donaldson, Springs Monticello, Busscar, Sara Reads Natural of Mexico and Mangra, only by mentioning some.
