Jesús María is a municipality located in the central western part of the state. The origin of this place dates back to 1699, and it was consolidated in 1702, when Xonacatique was established by the indigenous landlord Matías Saucedo y Moctezuma.

In Jesus Maria you can find a great variety of attractions such as the Children's Ecological Center, Los Cuartos, which is based as a place for ecological and environmental awareness; the parish chapel, of Baroque style was built between the years of 1735 and 1774 by father Miguel Colon de Larreategui.
The Provenzal style furniture factories are acclaimed and valued. Valladolid recreational facility offers an artificial lake, swimming pools, sports facilities and green areas.

In this municipality you can find the cattle ranch from the Armillita brothers (bullfighters) and it is possible to appreciate the cattle. For those who enjoy fishing, the Abelardo L. Rodríguez dam is perfect for catfish, trout and carp.

The Chicahuales Fair is one of its most popular festivals and represents the historical dispute between the Mors and the Christians when contestants dance with masks.
